Leavenworth, and on Jan. 5, 1919 at Disciplinary Barracks [Ft. Leavenworth]; classed by Board of Inquiry as 1B; charged with disobedience of orders; sentenced to 25 years in prison, reduced to 1.5 years; court-martialed and imprisoned at Ft. Leavenworth, then at Ft. Douglas; reason for stance = International Socialist, humanitarian; member of Socialist Party; was a painter by trade; had blue eyes, brown hair, and was 5.75 feet in height.
