[May 16, 1918] Miss W. [Witherspoon] and [Bruno] Grunzig visited us and spoke to us concerning our dangerous position.

[May 17, 1918] The I.B.S. men rec’d their uniforms. I was particularly impressed by Ferguson’s willingness now when only a month or so [ago] he endured all sorts of abuse for refusal to do what he was now not in the least averse to doing.
